Penny Black’s Social Diary: RSA’s flights and ITC’s boxes

Penny Black is back, sharing the tittle-tattle she overheard at insurance industry events, reviewing the quality of buffets at conferences and giving a thumbs up – or down – to the sector’s social media posts.
From Fenchurch Street to first class
As a longtime appreciator of true Hollywood glamour, specialty casualty leader at RSA Sarajane Jennings’s LinkedIn post about her first-class Emirates adventure had me swooning.
I do appreciate when industry folk get to experience a touch of luxury and it doesn’t get much better than a designated first class lounge and an attentive flight crew.
Her post whisked us off to India and Dubai and shared the riveting journey of meeting international clients and experiencing a newly renovated office.
Her naturally upbeat personality (her words, not mine) seemed to shine brighter than the Dubai sun, though I suspect the first class experience might have had something to do with that glow!
Who wants to be an insurance millionaire?
Well, what’s this I spy? Chris Rolland, CEO of All Clear Insurance, taking to LinkedIn to share his company’s sponsorship of television royalty Sir Stephen Fry on a celebrity edition of ITV quiz show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
Though I must say, having weathered numerous industry charity fundraisers in my time, watching Sir Stephen win £250,000 for Mind Charity would certainly beat another evening of beige sandwiches and bowls of olives.
A thumbs up for All Clear’s sponsorship of what was clearly quite the television event, though I do wish they’d invited your favourite insurance social columnist to the viewing party.
After all, with my centuries of experience, I might have been rather helpful as a phone a friend for the history questions.

Penny’s Lunch Box

The Brewery’s offering at ITC London showcased a delightful array of both meat and vegetarian options served in proper containers. Finally, someone in the insurance industry who understands that food belongs in a box!
After all, how many times have I complained about the struggles of balancing a plate of canapés?
Five stars for thoughtful packaging - though I do wish they’d named them “Penny’s Lunch Boxes” in my honour. A girl can dream, can’t she?
