Power List: Ones to watch in insurance in 2024

Here are the ones to watch who narrowly missed out on a place in this year’s Insurance Post Power List, but based on their role, career to date and growing influence look set to feature in future rankings.

Neil Gibson, Sedgwick

Neil Gibson leads Sedgwick’s UK executive team as CEO and has overall responsibility for the 2,500 colleagues who work for the claims management company.

Steve Hardy, Policy Expert

Since Steve Hardy joined Policy Expert as the organisation’s chairman and CEO at the start of 2022 he has quickly grown the business to have more than 1.5 million UK customers.

Ajay Mistry, iCan

Ajay Mistry is the co-founder and co-chair of iCan, The Insurance Cultural Awareness Network, an industry-wide group set up to support multicultural inclusion and career progression.

Stephanie Ogden, HDI Global

Pregnancy didn’t pause Stephanie Ogden, managing director of HDI Global SE for UK & Ireland, pushing for profits and inclusivity in 2023, which is why she features even higher up in Insurance Post’s 2024 Power List than she did last year.

Stephen Wallace, McLarens

Steven Wallace is managing director of EMEA for global claims services provider McLarens and is the current president of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters.

Mark Roberts, Chubb

Mark Roberts, division president for UK, Ireland and South Africa for Chubb, is responsible for the organisation’s property and casualty, accident and health and consumer lines operations.

Sam White, Stella Insurance

Sam White is the founder and CEO of Stella Insurance, a female-centric motor insurance business that’s unapologetically led by and designed for women.

Donna Scully, Carpenters Group

Donna Scully is a joint owner and director at Carpenters Group, plus a skilled Irish dancer – as demonstrated on the stage of the Royal Albert Hall at last year’s British Insurance Awards.

Adam Winslow, Direct Line

Before he even had a chance to get his feet under the table, Adam Winslow, who only joined Direct Line as group CEO on 1 March, had to deal with Ageas making a takeover bid for his business.

Neil Galjaard, Markel UK

Neil Galjaard leads Markel’s UK retail business across insurance, tax and legal capabilities, working with brokers, accountants and lawyers.

Nick Turner, NFU Mutual

Nick Turner was appointed NFU Mutual Group chief executive in April 2021 and since taking the helm the agricultural insurer has continued to support farmers and preserve nature.

Jason Storah, Aviva

A fresh face on Insurance Post’s Power List in 2024 is Jason Storah, who was appointed CEO of UK & Ireland General Insurance in August 2023.

Jason Harris, QBE

Having spent a quarter of a century working in insurance, Jason Harris, who joined QBE as chief executive for international in October 2020, is a familiar face in the sector.

Ant Middle, Ageas

Ant Middle, CEO of Ageas UK, leaps up 16 places on Insurance Post’s Power List and is likely to climb even higher up the ranking of the industry’s movers and shakers if his parent company continues to court UK targets despite the DLG rebufal.

Graeme Trudgill, Biba

Graeme Trudgill was appointed CEO of the British Insurance Brokers’ Association in July 2023 and was able hit the ground running thanks to his close working relationship with predecessor Steve White.

Simon Matson, Gallagher

Simon Matson, executive vice president of Gallagher Global Brokerage, is a familiar face in the general insurance industry.
