The professionalism push: Video interview with Sandy Scott, CII
Sandy Scott, chief executive of the Chartered Insurance Institute talks to Jonathan Swift about the challenges and opportunities facing the general insurance industry in its quest to embrace professionalism.
The video interview, available online now, follows on from the launch last year of a joint Post Magazine and Insurance Age campaign - Investing in the Profession - designed to promote professionalism across the general insurance sector.
It is also timely as the General Insurance Task Force's Aldermanbury Declaration reaches its first anniversary next month.
Mr Scott says he is confident that the general insurance sector is making strides that will help it differentiate itself under the new regulatory regime, including the Consumer Protection and Markets Authority.
"I am now focussed on what the industry is doing to turn itself into a recognisable profession and how this will benefit it under the new regulatory structure," he comments.
Dr Scott also gives an update on the progress on the Aldermanbury Declaration, the progress of the retail consumer market in embracing professionalism and what lies ahead for the CII.
