Insurers
Ageas
Ageas Retail’s partnership director Ant Middle has been appointed as CEO of Ageas Retail. Middle, who succeeds Mark Cliff, will take up the position from April 2015, subject to regulatory approval. Cliff will leave on 30 April to join Brightside as executive chairman.
Pinpoint Underwriting
Pinpoint Underwriting has appointed Brian Kerrigan to its underwriting team. He brings nearly 20 years of professional indemnity underwriting experience to the company. Kerrigan started his professional indemnity career at General Accident in 1997. He was involved in underwriting the traditional professions as well as charities and directors’ & officers’ insurance. Following General Accident’s mergers with other companies throughout the years, his most recent role was on the senior professional indemnity team at Aviva.
Travelers
Paul Latimer has joined Travelers to lead the development of a global construction business offered through Lloyd’s Syndicate 5000. Latimer will join Travelers from Catlin, where he was senior underwriter for construction and engineering. He will be responsible for developing and managing the Travelers global construction business that will offer a full suite of construction coverage.
Loss Adjusters
Questgates
Specialist loss adjuster Questgates has hired Jon Axisa as a project manager. He was previously at Raw Technology, a pollution response and remediation contractor, where he spent nearly 10 years, most recently as operations manager, managing its day-to-day regional business operations.
Brokers
Ellis Clowes
Ellis Clowes, the specialist Lloyd’s insurance broker, has appointed Ann Roughead to its board as CEO. Roughhead has a career spanning almost 30 years in investment and finance and has held a number of senior positions including CEO of LV Asset Management and senior positions at Citigroup, including chief operating officer of the Private Bank, head of Smith Barney and head of investment for Citi’s Retail Bank.
Henderson
Stuart Counsell has been appointed as the new non-executive chairman of Leeds-based Henderson Insurance Brokers. He replaces Fred Gibson, who has stepped down from his role after 15 years. Counsell’s most recent role was as a finance director with Deloitte.
Miller
Cyber and technology risk broking specialist Miller has appointed Simon Milner in a production and broking role. Milner has over 30 years of insurance market experience and has been broking cyber and technology risks since 1997. He began his career with Alexander Howden where he became an associate director before joining Jardine Lloyd Thompson in 1991 where he was a partner prior to joining Miller.
Thomas Miller
Alan Grant has joined Thomas Miller as a non-executive director. Grant, a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute has served on several London market committees and is deputy chairman of Dual International. He started his career in the London insurance market in 1975 and has experience of non-life insurance and reinsurance underwriting, including 10 years of regulated board experience.
Trade Association
Flood Re
Flood Re has hired Gary McInally as chief actuary, effective from July 2015. He brings more than 15 years of actuarial experience to Flood Re, latterly as head of capital at Canopius. Before that he was a principal consultant at PWC providing actuarial advice to UK and international insurers.
IUA
The International Underwriting Association has appointed its first apprentice. Tom Hughes will become a full-time employee from next month, strengthening IUA’s work supporting London market companies. He will spend his first year at the association rotating between different departments in order to gain a widespread knowledge of its work.
