Motor Claims 2015 - speaker: Neil Thomas
Neil Thomas is director of investigations, APU.
Thomas enjoyed a wide and varied career with West Midlands Police, where he became a specialist in a number of disciplines including roads policing, intelligence management, crime investigation and anti-corruption.
One high point of his career was to lead the successful Old Bailey court case against the disgraced Police Detective from the Soham murder who, together with a Crown Prosecution Service assistant, conspired to defeat a case against him involving the possession of indecent images of children.
Thomas left the service after thirty years as a Detective Inspector managing a team of over sixty officers responsible for resolving all crimes within Solihull Borough.
Thomas is now the UK Director of APU, a leading investigation and asset protection company within the Automotive and Insurance Solutions Group.
APU has been instrumental in key insurance fraud investigations over a number of years, and work with insurers and law enforcement agencies on a daily basis to bring those responsible for crime to justice.
Under Thomasl's leadership APU has saved over £250,000 from fraudulent and exaggerated motor insurance claims during the last 12 months, often using telematics during investigations.
Thomas has appeared in almost every series of the BBC production ‘Claimed and Shamed' which highlights how the industry is tackling motor insurance fraud, and has a passion for breaking down some of the real but unnecessary barriers which prevent the industry combatting fraud together.
