19 December: A not so bright idea

19-dec

Finding your keys after an alcohol-fuelled night out is never easy. Perhaps even less so when you are on holiday.

Mr Policyholder found himself in such a situation on vacation in Greece. After much patting down and half-hearted emptying of pockets, he sat down to ponder where he would spend the night.

Looking up at his apartment, he noticed the window had been left open, and had the sort of genius idea that one only ever gets when under the influence; he decided to climb up and through.

This probably wasn't his best idea. Six-foot up he lost his balance and fell back, landing with a thud and breaking his leg.

A few hours later, with his leg in plaster, and considerably more sober than he had been when the fall occurred, Mr Policyholder discovered his key in one of his pockets - it had been there all along.

After running up a fairly hefty medical bill, Mr Policyholder returned to his apartment to phone his insurer to put in the claim, only to be told that, as the accident was the result of him being intoxicated, the policy was null and void.
