Insurer

Allianz
Allianz has hired John Berry as senior retail actuary. Berry will be leading a team of actuaries and analysts working across pricing, reserving and corporate planning for all retail lines of business. Before joining Allianz, Berry worked for both Towers Watson and EMB as a senior consultant covering retail lines in the UK and overseas. He specialised in pricing, underwriting, product, data and strategy, and gained experience across many retail products and distribution channels.

Aspen
Ian Floyd has joined Aspen Risk Management as head of claims, North, based in its Manchester office. Floyd will establish and manage a newly-formed claims function in the North, working closely with the underwriting team and providing a local presence in supporting and strengthening broker relationships. LV
Steve Sarjant has joined LV as a non-executive member of its with-profits committee. Before retiring in 2011, Sarjant was managing director, global head of mergers and acquisitions for risk consulting and software at Towers Watson. During his career he worked on a number of high profile insurance company mergers and acquisitions. He can be contacted at steve@sarjant.net.

Now Health
Now Health International has appointed two new members of senior staff to its team in Surrey. Mandy Dicksee has joined as operations manager, while Colin Noden has been appointed business development manager. Dicksee has worked in health insurance for more than 20 years and Noden brings over 10 years’ experience to the role.

Skuld
Marine insurer Skuld has appointed Kjell-Åke Augustsson to lead its office in Piraeus, Greece. Augustsson moves from the firm’s Singapore office, which he had managed since it opened in 2012. He joined Skuld from the Swedish Club in Hong, where he had been deputy managing director since 2005. Before that, he spent 10 years as a senior underwriter with Skuld. Augustsson replaces Clas Rydén, who is leaving the firm.

Sterling Insurance
Michael Brooke has joined Sterling Insurance as regional development manager for Yorkshire and the North East. Brooke joins from Broker Network, where he held several roles since 2008, most recently as insurance relations manager for Towergate.


Loss adjusters

Questgates
Questgates has made two new senior appointments to its liability division. Mike Gresty, who has over 25 years’ liability adjusting expertise, joins following a short period with Stream Claims Services while Steve Gurney joins the firm as senior liability adjuster covering London and the South East. He joins from Cunningham Lindsey where he has spent the last 10 years as a liability adjuster. Willis
Willis Group Holdings has appointed Seth Peller as global CEO of its fine art, jewellery and specie division, effective immediately. Peller has spent more than 20 years in the industry and has held a number of roles with Willis, including global head of casualty and CEO of the company’s operations in Argentina.

Global Risk Partners
Former Bluefin CEO Mike Bruce has been appointed as head of retail insurance broking at Global Risk Partners. Bruce, who was group managing director of Heath Lambert before joining Bluefin, has departed the broker alongside former executive chair and past CEO Stuart Reid – who has will join Arthur J Gallagher as UK retail CEO.

Government to consult on leasehold commission ban

In a written statement published yesterday, the Minister of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government has said the government “will go out to consultation very shortly on the detail of the Act’s ban on buildings insurance remuneration”.
