Penny Black's Insurance Week - 10 April 2014

Penny is a massive prankster, and loves it when these things come off without a hitch.

So she was thrilled when Post editor Stephanie Denton's own 1 April ploy hooked more than a few fools. Not least when those tricked include staff at the nation's broadcaster. BBC Radio 4 reporter Shari Vahl confessed to Post both she and her editor had fallen for a false story on telematics for bicycles. Who says standards at the Beeb are falling?

Meanwhile, hacks from Post and Insurance Age engaged in the ultimate form of combat recently, a knock-down drag-out pizza slice eating competition. Although Age triumphed, Biba executive director Graeme Trudgill boasted to Penny last week that he would win a second competition, confidently forecasting he could put away a mighty 28 slices of pizza.

That's quite an appetite, Graeme, but hold on, here's another challenger - Aviva comms man James Leech has recommended UK broker distribution and performance director Phil Bayles to weigh in too.

Penny, of course, is far too refined to enter such a competition, but it's certainly one she would like to cheer on from the sidelines.
