Penny Black's Insurance Week - 19/26 December 2013

Penny is always excited to hear about the latest technology, and was therefore intrigued by reports from Octo telematics that the firm had built its own crash simulator capable of tossing and turning brave volunteers to replicate dramatic car accidents.

Jonathan Hewett, chief marketing officer at the firm, told Penny Octo has effectively built a car cabin with an entire rig around it to shake and shimmy the poor occupants. It sounds a bit like a terrifying roller coaster to Penny, but presumably the brave Octo man has given the simulator a go himself? Cue a slightly embarrassed “Er, no” from Hewett.

Meanwhile, Ace staff must have been delighted to hear chief executive Andrew Kendrick would personally pick the venue for their Christmas party. What fine venue would the head man choose? Presumably it would be posh, and perhaps even swanky too? And, indeed, thanks to Kendrick, Ace’s fine staff are headed for a venue that claims to mix “opulent Manhattan design with a twist of Soviet spirit”. So, what is the venue in question? That would be the Vodka Revolution bar next to Tower Hill.

Penny must remember to recruit Kendrick as a party planner next year.
