Taiwanese earthquake to cost around $1bn, says Eqecat

An earthquake that hit Taiwan earlier this week has caused economic damage of around $1bn, risk modelling firm Eqecat has said.

The 6.4 magnitude earthquake which shook Southern Taiwan injured 64 people but no-one was killed.

Eqecat added that it expects insured losses to be a "small fraction" of the economic damage.
