Penny’s prize for most committed mother in insurance this week goes to Zurich’s head of customer service, UK personal lines, Trudi Archer, who spent Saturday night at the hot and sweaty Joiners Arms in Southampton watching five-piece “metalcore band” The Valiant launch their debut album Empress Heights.

Although not a fan– she says most of the album is “just noise”– Archer attended because the band’s lead singer is her son. One hopes her ear plugs managed to drown some sound out and that she was not
