Incisive Media cleans up at the Biba Awards 2011
Journalists from Post and sister title Insurance Age topped three categories and received four highly commended awards at the British Insurance Brokers’ Association’s 2011 journalist of the year awards.
Post editor Lynn Rouse was highly commended in the Trade News category and senior reporter Amy Ellis and news editor Mairi MacDonald received the same accolade for Online.
Senior reporter at Insurance Age Liz McMahon won the Scoop of the Year and was highly commended in Trade Feature award while editor-in-chief Jonathan Swift snapped up the Trade News and the Best Interview/Profile awards.
Insurance Age editor Martin Friel was shortlisted for the Trade News Feature and News awards as well as Scoop of the Year while Emmanuel Kenning, senior reporter, was in the shortlist for Trade News. Post senior reporter Daniel Dunkley was shortlisted for Scoop of the Year and features editor Leigh Jackson was shortlisted for Best Interview/Profile award. Post associate editor Stephanie Denton was shortlisted for Trade Feature and Best Interview/Profile award while Liz McMahon was also shortlisted in the Online category.
Well deserved achievement
Eric Galbraith, Biba chief executive said: "We are now in our 29th year of the awards, and every year we have seen the entries grow in strength. I believe that this year's short-listed journalists represent the strongest group that we have ever had the pleasure to work with.
"As well as looking at the originality and style of writing, and the quality of related research or investigatory work, our independent judges have been asked to identify the journalists that raised awareness of general insurance subjects through their work and provided an insight into general insurance issues.
"I commend all those short-listed for providing a valuable service to the British consumer and the insurance sector, and would like to congratulate the winners on their fantastic and well deserved achievement."
