Aon warns businesses on environmental exposures
In the wake of the EU’s draft environmental crime directive, Aon is urging businesses to ensure that they have the appropriate systems in place to manage their potential environmental exposures. The directive could see companies facing fines of up to €1.5 million and directors looking at up to 10 years in jail for environmental breaches.
Offences will include the emission of hazardous substances and the illegal discharge, transport or storage of waste resulting in substantial damage to air, soil, water, animals or plants.
