British Insurance Awards Countdown: In 2021, which firm became the 15th different name to win General Insurer of the Year?

The 20th British Insurance Awards were held at the Royal Albert Hall

There are now just 15 days left to get your British Insurance Awards entries in [closing date: 11 March].

And, interestingly, last year Covea became the 15th different insurance brand to win the General Insurer of the Year at the British Insurance Awards.

The insurer that has picked up the title the most is Allianz, which has now won the crown four times. As an organisation, it can claim the title five times if you include acquisition LV=’s single win in 2012. However, Aviva can do better this by one if you add Commercial Union’s three wins to Aviva’s own trio of victories.

The other organisation to have won the crown under different names is Ageas, which won as Fortis UK in 2007, and as Ageas in 2014.

Among the other multiple winners of the title are Zurich [three times] and St Paul International [twice].

AIG, Beazley, Hiscox, Independent Insurance, NFU Mutual and RSA have all won the title once.
