The Association of British Insurers would have been forced to sack its former director general Kerrie Kelly if she had not resigned.

That is the claim made by an unnamed board member in the Mail on Sunday.

He told the paper there had been a falling out and that if she hadn't offered her resignation at last Wednesday's meeting of
