US DOJ sues to stop Aon/WTW merger
The US Department of Justice has filed a civil antitrust lawsuit to block Aon’s proposed $30bn (£21bn) acquisition of Willis Towers Watson, saying the merger threatens to eliminate competition, raise prices, and reduce innovation.
The merger, which would see two of the big three insurance brokers combine, was announced in March 2020.
In its complaint, dated yesterday, the DOJ alleged that that the two broking juggernauts
