Penny Black’s Insurance Week – 23 April 2015

The Post newsdesk has been awash with news of brokers moving to rival firms this year and last week was no different.

However, while the reporting team were glued to the phones seeking industry feedback on what the news might mean for all involved, a cautionary tale came to light. Often news of a move is kept under wraps even from close friends while details are ironed out and time is spent in the garden and one recent mover fell foul of this when seeking to keep in touch with a former colleague.

The two senior industry figures kept in touch by mobile and shared jokes, ribbing and shall we say ‘industrial' language at times. The former sent several messages filled with the aforementioned naughty words but was not getting a reply from his long-term friend. The more time passed without a response, the fruitier the texts got until a message from the firm‘s HR department firmly told him that Mister X had left - and returned his company mobile too. Whoops. It's at times like that when Penny is reminded why she saves her very best profanities for the pub - where they belong.
