Assurant Solutions names European boss

Mike Balsley

Assurant Solutions has named Mike Balsley as president and chief executive for its European business unit.

Mr Balsley has more than 30 years’ experience in the banking and insurance industries and has been with Assurant Solutions and one of its predecessor companies for more than 14 years.

He has spent the last two years as senior vice president, China, supporting the business’s efforts to enter the credit insurance market. Prior to working in China, he served as senior vice president, sales and marketing for the creditor business. In this role, his responsibilities included identifying and executing market strategies and developing a strong cross-functional team to support the business, across UK, Ireland, Italy, Spain and Germany.

Commenting on his new role, Mr Balsley said: “The centralised European operating structure that we introduced 18 months ago has given us real competitive advantage. It has given us the flexibility our clients require and enables us to produce and launch products and services that are tailored to their needs.

"Equally important, it allows us to deliver a consistent brand experience to their customers across Europe. We are experiencing positive results and have gained real traction in each of our core product lines across all our European marketplaces.”

He added: "We are in an outstanding position to move our efforts up a gear and drive further growth to achieve our goals in Europe.”

Mike Anderson, president of Assurant Solutions, International, commented: “The strength of Mike’s varied experience and skills will be a tremendous asset as we continue to drive growth in our European businesses”.

He has relocated from Beijing to his new home in Windsor.
