Allianz has welcomed 51 new brokers to its Academy Scholarship Programme at a launch event held at Painters Hall in the City of London.

Places on the programme, which actively supports brokers to achieve their Chartered Insurance Institute's diploma in insurance in 18 months, were allocated to 33 commercial brokers and 18 personal lines brokers. Places were in high demand with more than 150 applications for this year's intake.

The successful applicants were joined at the event by Dr Sandy Scott, pictured, outgoing CEO of the CII, and Allianz representatives, including commercial general manager Simon McGinn and retail general manager Neil Brettell.

The scholarship programme, now in its fourth year, builds on the success of the Allianz Partners Academy, a long-running training programme which welcomes more than 700 brokers to technical training and breakfast club events each year.

McGinn, who spoke at the event, commented: "It is a pleasure to welcome such talented and ambitious brokers to our award-winning scholarship programme. The last three years have been incredibly successful and we are now seeing the fruits of our investment for the individuals and their firms.

"Our belief is that the broking industry remains a critical part of ensuring our industry delivers value to customers and so we are proud to invest in the future talent of the broking community with this new intake of scholars."
