FTSE 100 reaches highest level since 2008
On Wednesday afternoon the FTSE 100 broke 5800 for the first time since 2008, fueling speculation that the UK is seeing a sustained upturn in its economy.
The UK FTSE 100 reached 5801 points at 3.30pm (GMT) this afternoon, up 44 points from the beginning of the day, on good results from technology company Intel and US bank JPMorgan Chase.
