Insurance Telematics 2015 – Speaker: Andy Rowland
With almost 30 years of experience in IT, Andy Rowland is an award-winning business technologist holding a special interest in the evolution of new technologies in the interconnected world.
Rowland is responsible for BT's customer innovation across a number of industries, providing thought leadership on big data and the security implications of the internet of things.
Traditionally Rowland has focused on high value propositions across a range of industries including health, oil and gas, and most recently automotive.
Having joined BT in 1986 as a programmer, by 2000 Rowland was building some of the very first e-commerce sites, pushing boundaries by porting them to interactive TV, an award-winning initiative.
Rowland then moved into proposition development, and has successfully identified emerging trends that would go on to have a major impact. In 2002, he led on IP-CCTV, in 2004 Tele-Health and by 2008 had moved onto Distributed Acoustic Sensing in the Oil Industry.
Prior to joining BT in 1986, Rowland worked as an accountant at PwC.
Rowland holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Swansea.
