India on track to raise insurance limit to 49%

The Indian government has confirmed that it plans to proceed with plans to increase the overseas investment limit in local insurance companeis to 49% from its present 26%.

Indian Finance Minister P Chidambaram said: "it is our intention to raise the foreign equity limit in insurance companies to 49% from 26% when parliament approves the bill."
