 
            
            General insurance growth at 5.3% across EU
The number of insurance companies in Europe has remained stable at around 5000 with general insurance premiums rising by 5.3% in 2003 despite the trend towards concentration, according to Gérard de La Martinière, president of the Comité Européen des Assurances.
Mr de La Martinière was speaking at the CEA's annual press conference in Brussells to deliver the report: European Insurance in Figures: Basic Data 2003 - Complete Data 2002.The report found that
