Having resigned in the late summer of 2000, Martin Reith had a long period in the garden to look forward to. By the following year, he was in Maurice 'Hank' Greenberg's office asking AIG to back his venture, Ascot Underwriting. Ralph Savage finds out if his fingernails have grown back
