Defaqto warns consumers are ‘brainwashed’ by prices

Speaking at Defaqto’s Smarter Financial Decisions conference today (12 September), Mike Powell, insight analyst at Defaqto, said customers were too consumed by price when picking a general insurance policy.

Powell cited both the increase in price comparison websites and ‘essential’ products, policies in which coverage is reduced in exchange for a cheaper premium, as encouraging prioritisation of price
