Penny Black's Insurance Week - 15 May 2014

As a faithful dress code follower, Penny was horrified at the wide-ranging interpretation of ‘cocktail attire’ on display at the recent Headline Money Awards.

One popular insurance PR was spotted wearing leopard print leggings and a t-shirt while a fellow reveller was seen strutting around the Park Lane Hilton in a hot pink jumpsuit. As a slave to her petticoats, Penny wouldn’t be seen dead in trousers. However, she was rather taken by the multi-layered get-up of a former Post colleague who had piled on a shirt, tie, cardigan and suit jacket. While one can appreciate the pain infl icted by high heels, Penny considered the trainers accompanying his outfit were taking comfort over style slightly too far. Penny’s no stranger to a packed social calendar but it’s a while since she donned a frock two nights in a row, following Headline Money with the Manchester United Player of the Year awards. Goaded by colleagues, Aon’s Stephen Cross outbid the room to win the honour of handing out the Matt Busby trophy for the second consecutive year but was more reluctant when it came to a boxing session with Cheshire-born pugilist Tyson Fury. Probably for the best, in Penny’s view. Embarrassing a fellow in his own back-yard is simply churlish.
