Penny Black’s Social Diary: Lloyd’s Greggs spread and Hiscox motion

Social Diary

Penny Black is back, sharing the tittle-tattle she overheard at insurance industry events, reviewing the quality of buffets at conferences and giving a thumbs up – or down – to the sector’s social media posts.

Melody Lyndon-Stanford, general insurance client specialist (large corporates) for Aviva, proved on LinkedIn that she is as much a Dancing Queen as I am.

Lyndon-Stanford shared how she took a group of real estate clients out for an unforgettable night at Abba Voyage.

She wrote: “A few of us are still mind boggled over whether Abba were actually there or not….?!

“It was THE most unbelievable spectacle of an evening, enjoyed with the most incredible group of super trouper, dancing kings and queens.”

Dancing Kings and Queens on display always warrant a thumbs up for me.

Penny’s Lunch Box

To mark International Men’s Day, the Gender Inclusion Network plus Axa XL, Lloyd’s and WTW hosted a networking lunch followed by a keynote speech by British rower Gregg Stevenson. Penny Black wondered if the lunch came from a different Gregg – Greggs the bakery chain – as it was a savoury affair dominated by baked goods and sausage rolls. Three stars.

Out of context

“I get motion sickness on slow boats, but not fast boats.”

Aki Hussain, CEO of Hiscox Group, loves racing cars around a track – but shares that a life on the ocean waves is not necessarily one for him.
