22 dead after explosion at Manchester concert
At least 22 people have been killed and 59 injured after an explosion at Manchester Arena last night.
The blast took place in the foyer outside the main hall at around 10.35pm at the end of a concert by US pop singer Ariana Grande.
The Manchester Arena is an indoor arena north of the city centre with a 21,000 capacity.
Many areas of central Manchester have been cordoned off and there was a controlled explosion at Cathedral gardens at 1:30am.
The injured are being treated at six hospitals across Manchester and an emergency phone number has been established by police: 0161 856 9400.
The incident is being treated as a terrorist incident by police and there have been reports a suicide bomber was behind the attack.
UK Prime Minister Theresa May commented: “We are working to establish the full details of what is being treated by the police as an appalling terrorist attack. All our thoughts are with the victims and the families of those who have been affected.”
