ICO welcomes Post's #ColdCallCrackdown campaign
The Information Commissioner's Office has welcomed Post's #ColdCallCrackdown campaign, stating that with Post's help more action against nuisance calls will be taken.
Last week Post launched the #ColdCallCrackdown campaign, which calls for insurers to encourage their staff to more frequently report nuisance callers to the ICO.
Andy Curry, ICO enforcement manager told Post: "We hear first-hand the level of distress cold calls can cause.
"People reporting their nuisance marketing concerns to us are vital to our work. The reports inform our investigations and help us stop firms bombarding people with troublesome calls, texts and emails.
"We've issued more than £4m in fines to companies breaking the rules and with your [Post's] help we can take more action."
Last week the government unveiled plans to tranfer the Telephone Preference Service, which blocks unsolicited sales and marketing calls, to the Information Commissioner's Office.
