Motor premiums in biggest rise for five years

Motor insurance premiums in the UK have risen 8.1% over the past 12 months, signalling the end of three years of declining rates, according to the latest Car Insurance Price Index from Confused and Towers Watson.

The report found that premiums are now £47 more than they were this time last year, making the average premium £629 for the third quarter of the year. At the same point in 2014, the price was £582.
