bricks-ubs

Neil Richards-Smith is group MD, NCI

My colleagues won't know this about me but...
I built my own house on weekends, nights and holidays

What's your favourite quote or motto?
If you're going through hell, keep going - Winston Churchill. When things didn't look great during WW2 the only way to get through it was to keep on going until we overcame all obstacles

If you had the power, what words or phrase would be banned?
"I don't think the system can do that"

What would be your chosen superpower?
I want to be Bob from The Incredibles

What animal best describes you and why?
This is easy, Jack Russell wire haired terrier. Small, tenacious and a bit annoying at times

What can't you live without?
Apart from my family (bit soppy but true) my MacBook Air is so useful, it would be a major loss if it went missing.

If you could go back in time, when and where would you go?
For the fun factor, it's got to be the early 1990s - first house, loads of spare cash, do what you want, when you want. Harrogate was a pretty fun place to be and I had a great bunch of friends to enjoy it with.

What book do you think everyone should consume, and why?
The Lord of The Rings trilogy is my personal favourite. It teaches dedication - there are three books - a good attention to detail (there are a lot of characters with odd names), that good will always overcome evil and finally the two strongest needs of humans are love and hope

What was the name of your first pet?
Chuck, a rather funny Jack Russell that was so stubborn he lived until he was 22

What is the strangest claim you have ever heard about?
We had to recover a car from a tree a long time ago. It had run off a road that had a severe drop at the side and ended up stuck in a tree.

What was the last gift you gave someone?
A baby gym and a cuddly lamb to my PA's
new baby Harlow.
