Penny Black’s Insurance Week - 18 September

When the event was delayed due to a small fire at the front of the room – from which smoke was seen billowing – guests questioned why the sprinklers hadn’t come on. And the quick answer came: “Because there aren’t any”. Let’s just hope the risk manager for the venue wasn’t in attendance or they might have found themselves in for a roasting. Meanwhile, Penny had the privilege of watching the drama of James I unfold at the National Theatre alongside the Axa PR team’s answer to William Wallace, whose already staunch support of the ‘Yes’ campaign was further strengthened by almost three hours of 15th century fisticuffs. Penny counts herself lucky to have escaped the South Bank with her head still firmly planted on her shoulders and not on the end of a pike belonging to her flame-haired companion – who was last seen charging off to lay a one-man siege on Westminster…
