Cyclone Nilam makes landfall near Chennai
Tropical cyclone Nilam, the second named cyclone of the 2012 North Indian Ocean cyclone season, made landfall in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu at about 4.30pm local time on Wednesday with maximum wind speeds of 80km-90km per hour, according to catastrophe modelling firm AIR Worldwide.

Landfall took place about 40 miles south of the Tamil Nadu capital of Chennai, between the town of Mahabalipuram, and Kalpakkam, the site of a nuclear power
