Penny Black's Insurance Week - 10 October 2013
Penny was thrilled to chat to a broker this week who is investigating launching ‘adverse risk’ motor policies to cater for people with criminal convictions, among other criteria commonly cited for rejections.
What an enlightened attitude, Penny thought – it’s good that, after exiting the justice system, Britons should be able to obtain affordable insurance based on judgement of more than poor decisions made in the past. It almost warms the cockles of one’s heart. Almost. Research for the project is underway, but the broker is referring to it as Codename: Drunks and Skunks.
Meanwhile, upon arriving in Maastricht last week, Penny was perturbed to discover one of the official songs of the 2013 Federation of Risk Management Associations conference was Baauer’s Harlem Shake. Whether the choice was deliberate remains unclear, but Penny was left with the uncanny sensation that masked men were lurking around every corner and the conference would culminate in the venerable Ferma board doing their own enactment of the much-loved meme. No such luck, unfortunately. Still, there’s always next year.
