LGBT insurance network to participate in London’s Pride

Link will join over 150 groups marching in this year's event. London Pride organisers hope Pride 2013 will be "truly a community Pride" aiming "to reflect the best that LGBT London has to offer".

Erik Johnson, co-chair of Link, pictured, said: "With the participation of Link in London's 2013 Pride parade, for the first time the insurance industry as a whole will be represented in the parade, joining other professions, and improving the perception of the sector as one that is both diverse and attractive to work in."

Around 10 000 people are expected to march together to celebrate the LGBT community and its achievement. This year's theme, With Love (and Marriage), is particularly befitting given the recent House of Lords "Yes" vote to back the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill which takes gay marriage one step closer to becoming law.

Link is calling for as many LGBT insurance professionals as possible to attend the event "to celebrate not only the achievement of equal marriage around the world, but also the love and support that exist within and between the LGBT community and their friends, families and work colleagues."

Link was launched earlier this year and counts with the support of over 100 insurance organisations.
