Penny Black’s insurance week
Globetrotting Penny was expecting to see many things on her recent holiday to Berlin — the Reichstag; the Brandenburg Gate and the Holocaust Memorial Museum — but what she was not expecting was a rather fancy-looking Allianz building right in the middle of Museum Island.
Penny almost popped in to say hello. Unfortunately, she was grappling with a currywurst at the time. Not very ladylike.
Penny also took in the delights of the ever popular Hastings results briefing this week in the plush surroundings of The Honourable Artillery Company's Armoury House and was delighted to see the great and the good of the insurance world turn up in cars that would not look out of place in an episode of MTV's Pimp My Ride. Even more of a delight was the appearance of former BBC broadcast journalist Peter Sissons - alongside a smiling Ed Fitzmaurice - in the very novel spoof news report created by the firm to present their figures. The first real example of innovation in the insurance industry that Penny has witnessed in a long time.
