Spending Review 2010: retirement age set to increase

Under the Government Spending Review, the retirement age for men and women is set to rise from 65 to 66 by 2020.

There will be a gradual increase in the State Pension Age from 65 to 66, starting in 2018.

The Coaltion said this would save an estimated £5bn a year, and provide a “more generous” basic state pension
