Asbestos bill facing increased opposition
Legislation to establish a $140bn asbestos compensation fund faces a lack of support even if it musters enough backing to be voted out of the Senate Judiciary Committee this week, a Democratic opponent has claimed.
The bill has two declared Democratic supporters on the Judiciary Committee, but Senator Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts said he doubted it could attract more Democrats when the panel resumes work onOnly users who have a paid subscription or are part of a corporate subscription are able to print or copy content.
