Airmic survey: full results show brokers face snub

Almost two in five insurance buyers would rather deal with providers direct than a broker, according to a new survey published today, weeks after the Spitzer enquiry began. Alarmingly for the intermediary sector the research from the Association of Insurance and Risk Managers (Airmic) also found that 13% of its members said they have changed broker in the past because of lack of disclosure and 49% will consider doing so following the recent developments in the US.

At its biennial convention in Harrogate, Airmic, whose membership encompasses 80% of FTSE 100 companies, added 93% of respondents would like the practice of contingent commissions banned altogether or
