Career Development & CSR: A helping hand for local causes

Phil Bayles Aviva

Aviva has launched the Aviva Community Fund, an initiative that will lend a helping hand to local communities by offering support and funding for inspirational local causes.

The new initiative builds on the success of the Aviva Broker Community Fund, which has awarded funds to over 96 charities across the UK. Open to the public and broker-nominated causes nationwide, the initiative calls upon passionate local residents to submit an idea that will make a difference to their local cause and offers the chance to receive funding from £1000 up to £25,000.

Anyone in the UK can nominate a local group, club or charity and have the chance to secure funding, for a cause close to their heart. The different levels of funding mean that everyone has a chance of making a difference to their local community.

Phil Bayles, chief sales and marketing officer at Aviva, pictured, said: "The launch of Aviva Community Fund today follows its success in both Canada and Poland, and our hugely successful Broker Community Fund here in the UK. Now bigger and better than ever before, with exclusive broker awards and opportunities, there's never been a better year for brokers to support their community and get involved.

"In 2015 we'll be giving away our largest ever prize pot, and there's an opportunity for everyone to make a difference to their local community and support a cause close to their heart."

According to new research by Aviva, more than four out of five (85%) of the nation's local groups and charities are not confident that they can secure their minimum funding target to remain active in the next financial year - with £3697 the average sum required to sustain day-to-day running. Almost half of local community groups, charities and organisations across the UK believe that additional funding of £1000 or less would suffice.

Brokers were pleased with M&A activity in 2024 but ticked off by disproportionate regulation, capacity exiting the market and artificial intelligence failing to live up to expectations.
