Mapfre takes 31% hit on H1 net profit

Money down drain

Spanish insurer Mapfre has reported a 31% drop in post-tax profit for the first six months of 2015 to €315.6m (£223m).

The decrease was attributed to an "exceptionally" high claim level in the US and the higher tax rate in Colombia and Brazil.

The company's pre-tax profits shrunk 10.3% from €908.2m in the first half
