350% increase in UK M&A deal values

The value of UK insurance merger and acquisition deals rose by more than 350% to €1.5bn (£1.2bn) in the first half of 2013 from €344.6m in 2012, PWC has reported.

The number of M&A deals fell by 34% from 32 in 2012 to 21 in 2013. A PWC statement said a small number of large transactions was behind the increase in values despite the drop in volume.
