Landmark ruling clarifies compensation under Riot Act

A judge has ruled the attack on a Sony warehouse in Enfield during the riots of August 2011 falls within the scope of the Riot (Damages) Act but that the consequential losses arising from the event do not.

Sony's distribution warehouse, which was insured by RSA, was looted and set on fire on the night of 8 August 2011. According to the reports, the attack was carried out by 25 young people who smashed
