Penny Black's Insurance Week - 29 August 2013

While recent summers have seen Penny reaching for an umbrella to protect against the pouring rain rather than a parasol to escape the scorching sun, so far this year, much to the delight of insurers across the UK, the former has given way to the latter; but a brolly is always required nonetheless.

With that in mind, Penny has been looking to update her weather-beaten black number with something a bit jazzier – and she may have stumbled across the perfect replacement. Flicking through the Observer magazine’s fashion pages, Penny spotted that LV’s bright green, heart-shaped brolly was featured as one of August’s ‘must have’ items.

Meanwhile, it’s not often Penny gets to visit the seaside, but she made one such voyage this week. After dipping her toes into the English Channel and gorging on ice cream, Penny strolled along Brighton’s Grand Pier and discovered a gypsy caravan, home to a tarot reader. Penny, of course, doesn’t buy into such schemes, but it’s clear someone in the industry did – Ivor the tarot consultant proudly lists Cornhill Insurance as one of his corporate clients.

Penny didn’t pause to ask Ivor exactly what fortune the cards had forecast for the Allianz-owned business.
