Penny Black's Insurance Week - 6 June 2013

While Penny has successfully mastered the Spanish language, she cannot claim to possess a full grasp of the Mediterranean mentality.

When speaking to the Spanish insurers’ trade body over the phone recently, Penny was perplexed to be greeted with a “yes?” instead of the standard ‘hello’, or perhaps a more professional greeting. Her confusion further intensified when, after the query, the press officer thanked her for calling him, before saying “kiss!” and putting the phone down. The gentleman was subsequently added to Penny’s blacklist.

Meanwhile, Penny was delighted to be taken to see Alicia Keys last week. However, she was somewhat bemused by the speed with which one of her party got into the Girl on Fire Tour spirit. After initially appearing to have agreed to attend the gig in sufferance, a certain music-minded Direct Line Group PR suddenly turned into Alicia’s biggest fan and was suddenly throwing some shapes, singing and clapping at the O2 Arena minutes after the performance started. One was grateful to have been sitting at a relatively safe distance.
