Catlin warns of catastrophe losses

Catlin has said $534m in losses from catastrophes added 32% to its combined operating ratio, taking it to 117% for the first half of 2011.

The specialty insurer and reinsurer reported an underwriting loss of $91m, compared with a profit of $227m for the same period last year and a $201m loss before tax (30 June 2010: $86m profit).
