Markel UK
Markel UK has appointed Liam Greene as professional and management risk underwriting manager. Greene was previously Hiscox senior development underwriter for the national account team where he was responsible for relationship management and developing speciality and affinity business. He will work to build upon Markel's proposition for professional and management risks particularly in response to the emerging sector. Lancashire Insurance Company (UK)
Lancashire Holdings has made two internal appointments in its UK business including group chief underwriting officer Paul Gregory's appointment as chief executive of Lancashire UK. Gregory will continue in his group role. Hayley Johnston, who joined the company in 2007, was appointed chief underwriting officer of Lancashire UK. In May 2011 Johnston was appointed deputy chief underwriting officer for Lancashire UK responsible for the marine and aviation accounts. Johnston will also join the company's board from 1 May. RSA
RSA has hired Mark Coffey as managing director of its private client division. Coffey, previously RSA personal lines regional broker division manager, will lead the company's high-net-worth personal lines business, including Oak. He will report directly to RSA personal lines intermediated division managing director Mark Allan. Coffey previously worked at Zurich and has been in the insurance industry for more than 30 years. LV
LV Broker strategic account manager Alan Rice has retired after a decade at the mutual insurer. Rice joined Highway in 2004, which was later bought by LV and became LV Broker. He was brought in to help set up the distribution function as well as building LV's broker relationships. Rice began his insurance career with Eagle Star in 1974 on a non-graduate training role in Southampton, before moving on to Hodge General & Mercantile Insurance Company which was later acquired by Axa in 1980. At Axa he served as regional commercial manager in Cardiff from 1996 and became UK private car development manager for the insurer in 1998. He later went on to work for Folgate Insurance Company and Shakespeare Underwriting Agency.

Towergate/Broker Network
Towergate's Broker Network has hired Ian Wainwright as head of broker development for the network's premier proposition. He joins alongside Angus Montgomery who was appointed broker development manager for the advantage proposition. Wainwright joins Broker Network from regional brokerage E Coleman & Co, where he was divisional director. He was previously broker sales director at Ecclesiastical. Montgomery joins the network from NFU Mutual and will focus purely on advantage members in Scotland and Northern England. Direct Group
iGO4 co-founder Tom Cooper has joined Doncaster-based insurance services business Direct Group as a consultant. Cooper, previously BGL e-commerce director, will be responsible for the group's product and pricing capability. Cooper can be contacted at tom.cooper@directgroup.co.uk.
Trade Bodies
British Insurance Brokers' Association
The British Insurance Brokers' Association's head of technical services Steve Foulsham has retired after eight years at the trade body and will be replaced by technical claims manager Mike Hallam. Foulsham, who retired on 30 April, began his insurance career in 1970 and worked for a number of major insurers prior to entering broking in 1991. He joined Biba in 2006 running the association's technical services department including the schemes and facilities. He has also been involved with the Biba property and liability committees, health insurance focus group, motor panel and the trade credit focus group. Hallam was formerly underwriting manager at Towergate. Hallam can be contacted at hallamm@biba.org.uk.
