Motor rates up 2% in Q2 as niche market outpaces standard classes

The 'RobotCar' is able to travel without driver input and can detect potential hazards up to 60 metres away

The non-life insurance market was flat overall last month as rising rates in property, motor and US casualty lines offset rate reductions in reinsurance, according to a Hampden report.

The UK has yet to follow the US in seeing rate rises in casualty lines but UK motor rates have continued to rise, according to the Lloyd's underwriting agency's market review.
