John White, Broking Manager at Momentum Broker Solutions

Explain your job to a five-year-old.

My role is to allocate the work and ensure it is completed as efficiently as possible.

If you could learn any new skill what would it be?

Flying an aircraft. A fighter jet would be great– it’s like an F1 car in the sky.

What chore do you hate most?

Cleaning the fish tank, but now I don’t have any fish, I would say decorating – at least this is a less frequent chore.

What did you buy with your first wage packet?

Far too long ago to remember properly however most likely it was spent going out all week. I wasn’t one for designer clothes or shoes, I preferred – and still do – having a good time.

What would you tell your 18-year-old self today?

Work hard, aim high, don’t get complacent, and exercise regularly.

What sporting event that you’ve never attended is top of your bucket list?

As an avid football and Leicester City fan, it has to be the World Cup Final. They don’t play in the world cup, obviously, but does anything else come close?

If you could go back in time to any point in history, where would you go?

I’d like to go back to the 1980s as an adult to see it from a different perspective.

What one thing couldn’t you live without?

Cheese – melted!

How do you define success?

Setting a goal and getting a positive result.

What was the last lie you told?

Cheese. I could still live without it, but wouldn’t want to.

Sobering reading for those with a Biba hangover

Editor’s View: If you are nursing a hangover after going to this year’s British Insurance Brokers’ Association conference then Emma Ann Hughes reckons you missed the point of attending the annual gathering in Manchester.

Biba follows ABI in addressing premium finance

Less than a month after the Association of British Insurers published guidance for members providing premium finance to customers, the British Insurance Brokers’ Association has followed suit.
