Marsh group buys JLT for $5.6bn

Marsh & Mclennan will buy Jardine Lloyd Thompson for $5.6bn (£4.2bn) in a move that will shore up the company’s position as the largest broker by revenue in the world.

The Marsh parent company will acquire JLT shares at £19.15 per share, a 33% premium on current market value of £14.32.

The company said it expects “cost synergies” of $250m as a result of the deal
